Sedation Dentistry

Imagine having your dental procedure performed while you nap comfortably without any memory of the procedure afterwards.

If you are someone who cringes at the sounds in dental offices, has a fear of needles, has sensitive teeth, or is immune to the numbing effects of typical freezing techniques, you might be a candidate for sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry is not for everyone, but for those who have been avoiding getting their teeth fixed because of fear, paranoia and/or discomfort this method can be extremely beneficial. All of our doctors are highly trained in the field of  Oral Conscious Sedation (or Sedative Dentistry).

For patients with high levels of dental anxiety, we offer a variety of treatment options listed below.

IV Sedation

With IV Sedation, medications are administered directly into the blood stream. IV Sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what is going on. Many times patients who undergo IV Sedation recall little or perhaps nothing at all of what happened.

Oral Conscious Sedation

If OCS is right for you, the Doctors at Rolling Hills Dental will prescribe the appropriate medication in a pill form that you will take in the office before your treatment. Most oral sedation dentistry patients nap through their visit and leave feeling relaxed, healthy, and well cared for.

Wand Anesthesia

For patients with extreme high levels of dental anxiety, we recommend wand anesthesia. Wand anesthesia is a revolutionary new computer controlled local anesthesia injection system that can provide a more comfortable and effective anesthetic delivery.  The wand allows for a more predicable comfortable injection, especially in the more sensitive areas such as the palate or front of the mouth.  It also allows for fewer anesthetics to be used.
