Gum contouring, also called gum reshaping, is a cosmetic surgery where an uneven gum line is fixed through the extraction of the excess gum surrounding the teeth resulting in a healthier and better smile. The healing period usually doesn’t take long except if there were a lot of gum tissues that were trimmed. This procedure can also help treat gum disease.

Many people have teeth that look too “short” due to the relationship between their teeth and gums. This creates a “gummy” smile.

Gum Contouring involves trimming away excess gum tissue with a special laser which also seals blood vessels, keeping bleeding at a minimum. After the procedure takes place, the gum is left to heal and the results are most often immediate. In some cases where more gum tissue is removed, the healing process may take longer.

Ultimately this procedure creates a consistent even gum line that results in a better looking smile.
